Why did I skip a bunch? to get to my fourth week that’s why. It’s a wonderful time, I get to go out and see the wonderful ports and do all I heard about doing but never had time to do. I was told when I got this job that I would be working 10 hours a day. Can you imagine that? Now I work maybe 5 hours a day. But that’s an intense few hours. If I really wanted to take my time I could make my work take 10 hours. It’s the will and the way that we get our work done as quickly and efficiently as possible. so I get to see the world!
Enough about what I did. You want to hear what happened. Alright. So half way through the week I get to a day where I don’t have to wake up early the next day. All last week I had to get up at 8am and resurface the ice. not this week. One of the other guys is doing it. So what do I do? I get rip-roaring drunk. What else could I have done? There’s no much else. Oh I do want to go play mini-golf. ooooh yeah, Midnight Mini-golf. I don’t. I get drunk instead.
Apparently the people I drank with were buying the shots. So shot after shot they went up for a toast and down the hatch. Only months later did I find out that they had shots of coke while I was the only one drinking alcohol. Oh my! I could have gotten so fired. All I remember was thinking I had to get to the bathroom quick. The next thing I know I’m in the bathroom and thinking that I need to get to my cabin without passing any security guards. So I take the most winding way I can think of that no security guards would be at. AT the very least I can’t walk past the security office. That would be a bad idea.
I end up in my room but I learned my lesson. You can dodge a bullet once and you might not be so lucky next time. So yeah, I have since then gotten very drunk but not in such a careless way. Mostly I just end up in my room sooner than later. That’s a good thing. Maybe I shouldn’t even go to the bar, but I would miss the wonderful jazz music. Oh yes, the Jazz, every saturday night the singers and the band play a wonderful jazz set. I have to amend that. It’s not that wonderful but for being on a ship with no live music to go to this is it. This is what I have to work with so it must be what I have to love. It gets me out of my room and into the big bar in the sky, no not heaven, it’s just the bar on deck 14 that over looks the ship and is at the highest point in the ship, other than the chapel that has no windows.
Oh, funny story next time about the chapel. Or at least the story ends in the chapel.
The guys still have yet to let up the kidding about that one night. I hear about the billiards that went horribly wrong and the yellow stuff all over the bathroom. I don’t recall much, not even the door that smacked me in the face or the last oh say five shots taken. I also don’t recall paying much for that night either which is a very good thing. Of course I paid in other ways than cash. It’s been six months since then and now there are pictures on facebook.
